Dave Perry is one of the most memorable contributors to UK games journalism in the 90s. With a career in magazine journalism and being a major part of gaming TV shows Games Master and Games World almost everyone knows who he is. With a wealth of games magazines in his portfolio including Sega Pro, Play, X-Gen and many more Dave had a insightful view of changes in gaming industry.
When Nintendo announced a new upcoming heldheld in 2004 codenamed DS (Developer System) they described as “The 3rd Pillar”. The Gameboy Advance and Gamecube were Nintendo’s main machines even though the Gamecube was struggling against XBox and PlayStation 2. However in March 2005 the DS was released and people took notice!
Sports games are a genre that have been around for years. From Pong to Track And Field to Fifa there have been some fantastic sports games and some stinkers. It’s a genre that is great fun playing with friends even though tempers may have been known to flair during some games (that may just be me!)
Maximum Power Up takes another look at the Sony PlayStation 2. As previously discussed Sony really started to take control of the console market with their 2nd machine. With a massive software library which also included the start of many much loved franchises there was something for everyone.
