We discuss those early days of his career at Newsfield and the challenges he faced as well as his memories working alongside Jaz Rignall.
As the video game medium matures, more intelligent, thought provoking and engaging stories are being told. While the outsiders to the medium like to pretend the only reactions that video games can provoke are anger and hatred, the reality is that games can stir a whole range of emotions.
When Nintendo announced their follow up to the much criticised Wii U, Nintendo fans had no idea what to expect. The Nintendo Switch was released in 2017 and made a bold move to have a home console that you could also remove from it’s charging dock and take with you wherever you went.
In this episode Paul chats to Jonathan Beales who has worked within the games industry for over 30 years. Jonathan started his career back in the 80’s working on Popular Computing Weekly and ACE magazines before moving on in 1989 to begin working in games and video promotion.
Jonathan has worked for Gremlin, Sony and many more well known names in the games industry. We discuss his time working with Sony and HMV helping promote Sony’s first games event to promote their products. We also cover making an advert for Games X magazine, working on the launch for 3DO, Tomb Raider 2 and more.
